Of or Pertaining to Trees

Providing arboricultural practices founded in sound science while operating within our ethical code of tree preservation.

Arboreal was established in 2001 to offer the Blue Mountains/Southern Georgian Bay region with an arboriculture firm to provide tree care of the highest standard.
Certified arborists on staff ensure that the prescribed action for trees in our care is carried out to the highest level, while maintaining a professional membership with ISA (International Society of Arboriculture) ensures we keep abreast of the latest techniques and research in our field.
Our equipment compliments our professional team by being up to date and meeting or exceeding the standards set for our industry. From large items such as using modern well maintained engines in our equipment to ensure efficiency and environmental responsibility, to important smaller details such as our use of biodegradable bar oil for our chainsaws so that no petroleum products are left at your site.

Our methodology is based in responsibility, respect and accountability towards the living organisms on which we practice our craft and to the clients who have chosen to use our services.

Years in Operation

Proudly Tree Trust Approved

ARBOREAL TREE CARE is proud to be the official Tree Trust Arborist for the TBM & Meaford.
Tree Trust was established in July of 2020 with a mandate to look after landmark, established trees in our community. While preserving legacy trees was our initial mission, our experience to date demonstrates that Tree Trust is a practical mechanism for community members to become involved and support their own urban forest. Taking care of mature trees offers a transformational opportunity; caring for mature trees is a symbolic and inspiring way to start engaging with climate solutions. You get tragedy where the tree, instead of bending , breaks.

From report writing for construction projects and tree appraisals, to preservation solutions we look forward to presenting you with the pertinent information regarding your site.

When trees are stressed in their environment it is essential to perform the correct analysis prior to prescribing a treatment, hence we provide soil, foliar, and structural analysis to gain a complete understanding of the trees condition and needs.

In circumstances where soil nutrient values are imbalanced and can be corrected with aid of a fertilization program, we propose a tailored and individually prescribed nutrient application. Our recommendations are focused on treatments which will enable the tree to gain its balance within its root zone while the diminution based program allows the target plant to be taken off the program within an average of three growing seasons.

Formative – to train a young tree through pruning, this practice is to encourage its species potential form and structure and is tailored directly to the species of tree being cared for as every species has an ideal habit.
Corrective – to perform reduction pruning within the canopy to improve the trees branch structure and correct poor crown development
Form – to prune the tree for aesthetics, usually pertaining to the canopies outline (be it regular or undulating) according to species and the physical limitations of the tree.
Structure - removing or reducing limbs which are adversely affecting the stability of the tree or the limb itself, the result being a tree with less distal weight acting on limb/stem unions reducing failure potential.
Retrenchment – to perform an overall canopy reduction to encourage proximal (nearer the centre of the tree) growth – used to re-invigorate and help to stabilize older trees in decline.
Form and structure - to prune the tree for aesthetics, usually pertaining to the canopies outline (be it regular or undulating) and removing or reducing limbs adversely affecting the stability of the tree or the limb itself. Thus training the tree to attain its species potential.
Clearance – to reduce either individual limbs/branches or the entire canopy due to space limitations as dictated by either physical structures or other plants.

When trees which have not been maintained develop poor structure, and pruning alone cannot mitigate the potential failure of stems or limbs we offer aids to structure such as dynamic cables and static braces. These are individualized according to the trees needs and require follow up inspections and care as the tree continues to develop.

Every living organism must pass; when trees die and removal is required Arboreal offers its professional team to perform the task. Using advanced rigging techniques and modern equipment we ensure that the trees surroundings are left undisturbed and safe. Whether the tree must be completely removed or a portion can remain for wildlife habitat, is site specific and is one of the options offered. Complete clean up to ensure there is no debris left behind is to be expected at every site where an Arboreal project has been completed.

If the stump is to be removed it can be ground to desired depths according to the planned use of the area going forward. Stump grinding chips can then either be removed from site or be left upon request for use as natural mulch if the tree was not diseased.

What Our Clients Say About Our Team

I do thank you and your team……everyone has been very professional and a delight with whom to deal. When Dylan and his team left last week they left no trace that they were ever here……the clean-up was more than complete. You will remember I was concerned about my lawn…..the absence of any tracks was such a pleasant surprise and part of the absolutely no trace left behind.

Bill Faulkner and Lynn Rooney - Thornbury

We thoroughly enjoyed watching and working with your team. They are true professionals, they are proud of their craft. They are all hard working team players and have safety as a first priority. They are so fit , they climb like Olympic athletes.
Clean up was appreciated.

Sincerely,  Marna Morgan & Eric West

Just wanted to send a note of thanks to Tobias Effinger and his amazing team @Arboreal.

My husband Eric & I bought a 150yr old farmhouse 8yrs ago & with it came very old trees. Our Maple (as old as the house) has been through a lot over the years and needed some serious pruning if we were to keep it alive and thriving.

I wrote to Arboreal on their website ( and my request was promptly answered and an appointment immediately set up.

The team & all equipment arrived on time. We had vehicles and a trailer near and around the tree which were immovable.

Tobias & his guys worked beautifully around all the obstacles and were super careful to not damage anything.

These guys are so impressive to watch. Not only do they do a fantastic job but the camaraderie, laughter and professionalism is bar none.

The boys all wore masks and distanced from us as is their policy, for which as an immunocompromised older person, I was very grateful.

We highly recommend anyone to use Tobias & Arboreal Tree Care.  You will not be disappointed!

All the best, Tara and Jason

I wanted to send a big thank you to you and your awesome team. It was such a pleasure working with you, start to finish on the project to protect our sugar maple tree. If we ever need tree work done again (or if anyone we know does), we will send them your way. We were fortunate to also deal with Kyle a lot, and he is fantastic too. Please convey to him our gratitude.

Thank you for the level of professionalism and attention to detail. It’s very clear that you all love what you do, and you’re amazing at it. We felt great knowing the tree was in your competent hands.

Please convey our gratitude to your team, and all the best in your future super cool tree climbing adventures.

Very best regards, Craig & Susan

Hello Tobias,

Sue and I wanted to reach out to you and express our big time appreciation for the workmanship and professionalism demonstrated by the crew which worked at our property this past Monday.

James, who lead the crew for the entire day, was first class in every respect as was the effort and outcomes delivered by the entire Team. To say we were well taken care of would be a major understatement.

Please extend our many thank to your ‘guys’ and congratulate them on being ‘best in class’ and for making this such a great cycle for our family.

Thanks a million Tobias!
